The end of one class

I am coming to the end of my ITN100 - Intro to Telecommunications class. I must be finished with everything by this Saturday at 11pm EST. I'm struggling to finish my last assignment which is due by Wednesday. It's super boring and there's a crossword puzzle. I'm not very adept at those to begin with, but add in weird acronyms and concepts in telecommunications and I've got about 3/4 of it done and I think I'm stuck!

In other news, I finally got my CS5 in. After much hassle with Windows service packs, etc I finally got it all installed and running. Now I'm having a problem connecting to my remote host (my school) via FTP. It keeps giving me username/password error messages. I've already called the school to have them reset things but it's not working. UGH! I'm not even done with assignment 2 yet & I should be finishing up assignment 4 this week! Very stressful! Hopefully tomorrow (Monday) I'll have it all sorted out! Oh my GOD, is it terrible that just now, over an hour and a half later, I realised that it IS Monday? ( T_T)＼(^-^ )

As for my "intro to the internet" class, it's going fine. There's a lot of reading I'm barely skimming and no more assignments due until around the week of March 21st. I'll probably do it next week after I finish my ITN100 final.

Near mid- semester

It's nearly the middle of the semester and high- time for an update! Let's see here...

ITE130 - Introduction to Internet Services: This class is still a joke. My latest assignments have been to join a Listserv and a newsgroup. My ISP wouldn't let me join a newsgroup so I tried Google groups. ALL HARDCORE PORN. The first thing I looked for was a group pertaining to my current obsession- Battlestar Galatica. All I found was hardcore gay porn (having brutal sex with cylons). Uhm, no thanks. （＊゜д゜） Finally found one on another site for people suffering from Fibromyalgia.
I had my first exam about a week ago. I got an 89% out of 100% on it. Despite the test and class being easy-peasy, I am still a horrible test- taker and tend to go into panic- mode. Bummer.

ITN100 - Introduction to Telecommunications: I hate this class. Even though I have an assignment due Monday, one due March 2nd and the final due by March 5th I feel like it can't end soon enough. I don't understand or give a shit about half the stuff in the course. Needless to say, networking will not be my profession! (。・_・。)

ITD210 - Web Design II: I saved the most lengthy rant for last ;) This class isn't that bad so far but then again I haven't been able to get past the first assignment (assignment #3 being "due" February 21st!). I've been trying to find some keygens and serial numbers for the CS4 Web Premium Edition my mother in law got me for Christmas (the serial is dead). I've had NO luck and have had to go ahead and buy CS5. It's really annoying; I couldn't even find a decent pirate of CS4! I just needed Dreamweaver for now but no, nothing worked. Thankfully, I was able to find the CS5 Web Premium Edition online at a student discount that brought my total to about $385. Not bad considering it retails for over 1.2k! Now I just have to wait until it comes in so I can get caught up on my homework. I don't think that'll be a huge problem once my ITN100 class ends.

Finally, Financial Aid! It's all gone through and I got a check for the excess funds a few days ago. Over $600! I'm really excited but also trepidatious. The government is trying to cut funding across the board for important public services and I'm a bit worried they'll ask for their money back, probably saying I ought to have been born into a wealthy family & it's my own fault I can't afford a higher education. (●ゝェ・)ノ

I'll end this here to keep myself from going into a rant about how disgusted I am becoming with this country and our sorry ass government! (One a side note, a friend and I want to start a revolution for realises. If you want to join up, please let me know ;)

Blog Updates

I've updated this layout a bit. Well, just the background and a little Valentine's Day sozai.

So far not much is going on. I'm about half- way done with one of my classes (Intro to Telecommunications) which is nice. I am having a bit of trouble with the CS4 pack my mother in law bought me, though. Apparently the serial number is useless. I've been online searching out new ones but none of them work. I even went to the Adobe website to see how much it would cost to buy one but it doesn't look like they're even offering them. What the hell? If anyone has any tips or hints, please pass them along! I need to use Dreamweaver and other Adobe products not just for my Web Design II class, but my final class that I'll start in June.

My Intro to the Internet course is a real fucking joke. Seriously. One of my assignments was "look at the following website and choose your favourite smiley face". What the hell? I found it insulting. It's pretty lame that my school dumbed down their certificate program but what can I do? Suffice to say, I stay about 2 weeks ahead in the class ;)

I'm still waiting on my financial aid to go through. They've finally adjusted my grant money to reflect my 3/4- time status so it should get processed within the next week or so & then I'll get a check for excess money! Woohoo! I really need the money, too. But I won't get into my personal finances on a blog that's supposed to be devoted to school ;)
